Making Your Session Memorable
- Location: Consider breath-taking or meaningful backdrops or those that express who you are. We’ll be happy to meet you at a favorite spot!
- Props: Sunglasses, musical instruments, pets, hats, balloons, bubbles, books, furniture, cars, flowers, and signs – these are all great ways to personalize your session and produce a signature portrait!
- Clothing: Your portrait should be uniquely you. Choose colors or trends that catch your eye. Are you comfortably country? Romantic? Urban chic? Playfully modern? Express yourself! Sometimes the best shots of people are when they feel they’re being a little daring – so make a statement. A few words of advice on what to avoid –logos, small/busy prints, and too much skin.
- Clothing Changes: Our sessions allow for an outfit change (or maybe more) depending on the location and how much time we have. Wearing two or three outfits ultimately gives you more options when choosing your favorites from among the proofs. Try one dressy and one casual look, or one very stylized and one classic look. It’s your choice!
- Hair and Makeup: The best portraits are made when you are being you. Style your hair in your favorite way. Don’t feel pressured to get your hair and makeup done for your portrait session, but in some cases you should consider it. In addition to making you feel fabulous, you might feel more confident during your session and more pleased with the final portraits.
- For Families and Groups: Consider using coordinating colors for your group. For example, everyone could wear jeans and tops with a single or complimentary colors (brown and teal, black and white, navy and pink, etc.) Coordinating in this way helps the viewer’s eye flow from one subject to another naturally without the distraction of conflicting patterns.
